FAQs

How many items can I store with Garde Robe®?

There is no limit. You may store up to 50 garments per “rack.” As a bonus, each rack includes 10 shoe boxes as well as one breathable box for accessories including handbags, shawls, wraps, belts, etc. Preferential pricing will be extended for members with voluminous wardrobes.

Is a long-hanging evening gown considered the same as other garments?

Gowns longer than 60” on hangers are billed as two items. Boxed/wedding gowns requiring their own archival box are $40 per month.

Are boots considered the same as shoes?

Boots are billed as two footwear items, so you are entitled to five pair per “rack” at no charge.

How many accessories fit in the accessories box?

Up to 10, space permitting.

How long does it take to receive items I need?

Garde Robe offers same- or next-day delivery of up to 10 garments in most areas. Garde Robe strives to accommodate your schedule for all deliveries and pick ups. If you require a rush or after-hours delivery, surcharges will apply. After-hours and weekend deliveries must be scheduled in advance. Garde Robe is closed and cannot guarantee deliveries on major public holidays. There are no fees for pick-ups or deliveries in most cases.

Will Garde Robe send someone to help me choose the clothing for storage?

Yes. A complimentary in-home closet and wardrobe consultation is provided at no charge. A Garde Robe representative will assist you with selecting items to place in Garde Robe’s care, sort items for consignment and charitable donation, and advise you on closet organization and getting the most out of your membership.

What if I don’t live in one of the regions Garde Robe has locations?

Garde Robe works with fashion devotees and has affiliates worldwide. No matter where you live, Garde Robe is the ideal way to keep your precious wardrobe looking its best year-round. To get started, Garde Robe will coordinate a pick up or shipment from your home. If you are traveling to or near one of our locations, you have the option of bringing the wardrobe with you and leaving it with Garde Robe upon departure.

What do I need to do to prepare for the initial appointment?

Simply sign the new member forms and spend a few minutes selecting the articles of clothing you wish to keep in Garde Robe’s care. Garde Robe will bring supplies to carefully pack your wardrobe and provide a complimentary in-home consultation, if needed.

Can I share the closet with a friend or relative?

Absolutely.

What if I have less than 50 items?

In certain instances Garde Robe will waive the 50-item minimum. Please inquire for details.

Does Garde Robe take the clothing on my hangers?

Yes. Although Garde Robe may replace it with a better hanger once the garment is prepared for storage. If you want to keep your hangers, we will switch them for you or return your hangers a few days after the pick up. You do not have to remove the hangers yourself.

How long will the initial appointment take?

We can carefully pack and be in and out our home quickly if the items are already set aside. If you request a consultation, our representative will spend as much time as you need helping you select items for safekeeping with Garde Robe.

Are sweaters considered accessories because they are stored folded?

No. Although sweaters and knits will be stored folded with acid-free tissue in breathable boxes and not on hangers, they still count as one item towards the “rack” as long as they are not accessories.

Do I need to give you all of the clothing on the first pick up?

No. You may request more than one pick up – there is no charge.

What is the charge for the initial pick up and consultation?

Complimentary.

What is the length of the storage commitment? What happens if I need to terminate my membership before the 12-month period has elapsed?

12-month minimum. In certain instances Garde Robe will allow members to terminate their membership early. A $25 per item processing fee will apply.

Are my clothes cleaned before they are stored?

Yes, as it’s deemed necessary. Garde Robe is not a dry cleaner. In order to preserve the condition of your precious wardrobe and ensure ready-to-wear delivery, Garde Robe will arrange for professional garment care services, if needed, before garments are stored for an extended period of time.

Which dry cleaner does Garde Robe use?

Garde Robe is affiliated with the nation’s most reputable garment care providers. If you have a particular cleaner you would prefer we use for specific items, we would be happy to accommodate that request.

Does Garde Robe provide insurance?

Yes. Garde Robe provides insurance on each item to supplement your homeowner’s policy at no additional charge. Members may purchase replacement-value insurance up to $1M from Garde Robe’s provider for an additional fee. Please inquire for specifics. Garde Robe has never filed an insurance claim for loss or damage of an article of clothing. We have been providing this service since 2001. Your wardrobe is in safe hands.

Does Garde Robe provide cold storage & conditioning services for furs?

Yes. Garde Robe partners with the most reputable furriers and utilizes their cold storage vaults. Cold storage fees apply.

What if I don’t need storage, just a Cyber Closet inventory of my wardrobe? Can Garde Robe inventory clothing I keep at my second home so I can see what I have in my closet there? Does Garde Robe photograph collections for insurance purposes?

Do you inventory the clothing at my home?

No, Garde Robe collects the wardrobe and brings it to our facility for cataloging, professional photography and a detailed inspection.

What types of items do you store at Garde Robe, and is there anything you cannot store for me?

Textiles of any kind including clothing, footwear, accessories and furs, and travel accessories and personal effects. Garde Robe cannot store perishables of any kind, furniture, art or jewelry.

Can I give you luggage and sports equipment?

Yes. Luggage and travel accessories are considered accessories and fees are determined by cubic space. Garde Robe will gladly pack your suitcases for your next trip.

How do I submit a pick up request?

Email info@garderobeonline.com and please CC your personal wardrobe manager.

How many pick ups and deliveries are included in the monthly fee?

One delivery per month is included in most cases. Garde Robe reserves the right to charge for subsequent deliveries. There is no charge for pick ups in our local delivery areas.

Can I switch out my closet from spring/summer to fall/winter wardrobes?

Yes, you may. Twice per year. Please review the Seasonal Wardrobe Storage service page for details.

What happens if I have an item delivered and replace it in my Garde Robe closet with a new item?

A $15 processing fee will apply.

Can I call the office to submit a delivery request instead of through the Cyber Closet?

Yes. Call 888-427-3311 and select the office where your wardrobe is kept.

How much does it cost to have a wardrobe manager visit my home to organize my closet, pack my suitcases or assist me with my wardrobe?

$100/hr

What is the fee for out-of-area deliveries?

$100/hr

What are Garde Robe’s hours of operation? Is Garde Robe open on weekends?

9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Weekend deliveries must be scheduled several days in advance.

I forgot my Cyber Closet login details. How do I login?

Email info@garderobeonline.com or call your local office. For security purposes, all passwords are encrypted, so we cannot retrieve passwords. However, we can reset the password after verifying your membership.

Can I show my assistant/stylist/estate manager my Cyber Closet and put parameters on how they can use it?

Yes, Garde Robe can create a “read-only” login for your staff so they cannot submit delivery requests or add data to the closet.
